Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth decay is a prevalent but preventable problem in America. Did you know that one in four adults aged 20 to 65 currently has at least one cavity?

The good news is that you no longer have to rely on metal fillings to eliminate tooth decay because we have durable and aesthetic composite resin to restore your smile. So you can now enjoy a healthy and problem-free smile that is also beautiful and gives you confidence!

Modern Tooth-Colored Fillings Benefit Your Smile

Composite fillings provide several benefits for your smile, the first being durability. Dr. Lee bonds composite material directly to your tooth, which requires less tooth structure to be removed for placement than a metal amalgam filling. The restoration is more conservative and protects more of your natural tooth structure.

Dr. Lee can also customize composite resin, so it blends seamlessly with your tooth, and your dental work isn’t noticeable.

Composite resin also doesn’t react to temperature changes in your mouth like metal amalgam fillings. Extreme heat or cold can cause amalgam to expand and contract, pulling it away from your tooth and leaving it susceptible to bacteria and decay again.

Getting a Tooth-Colored Filling

The process for completing a composite filling is simple and straightforward. We can complete most fillings during one appointment at our Brea dental office.

Dr. Lee will begin by numbing the area around the tooth we’re treating to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Once you are completely numb, he’ll remove the decay from your tooth, thoroughly cleaning it.

Next, he’ll apply a liquid etch material that helps the composite resin adhere to your tooth. Then he applies the composite, which starts out pliable until Dr. Lee cures it with a special light that hardens it. Finally, he’ll polish and shape the filling to flawless perfection and make any adjustments needed, so it doesn’t impact your bite.

Composite Resin and Dental Bonding

Dr. Lee can also use composite resin for a cosmetic procedure called dental bonding. Bonding can fix many slight cosmetic imperfections like:

  • Tooth discoloration and staining
  • Broken and chipped teeth
  • Oddly shaped teeth
  • Tooth size discrepancies
  • Spaces or gaps between teeth

Bonding is an affordable and quick way to improve and enhance your smile. Depending on your needs, we can typically complete a bonding procedure in only one appointment with Dr. Lee. You’ll enjoy a beautiful smile you can be proud of with dental bonding in Brea.
